Registering as an Official in Good Standing with USA Swimming

To work on deck as a New Jersey Swimming official, you must be registered with USA Swimming as an Official, and you must be in good standing.  This applies to both apprentice and certified officials.

New Officials:

  • Prospective officials who want to be affiliated with a specific team should contact their team's coach for a link to register with USA Swimming.
  • Prospective officials seeking to register as an "unattached" member of USA Swimming may request a link to do so by contacting the NJ Swimming Office at [email protected]
  • Registration is good through December 31 and must be renewed annually.

Returning Officials:

  • You can re-register via your USA Swimming Account.  Use the RENEW MEMBERSHIPS button on your dashboard to renew your membership.
    • NOTE: If your club bulk renews non-athlete members, your club will have to renew your membership.

This brief, free, and useful training must be completed one time as part of the registration process.  You can accesss the CDC or NFHS Concussion Protocol training here: https://www.usaswimming.org/officials/concussion-protocol-training

Once you have completed the concussion course, you must send your certificate to the New Jersey Swimming Office HERE to get the information added to your UAS Swimming account.

How do I know if I am in good standing?  When do I need to renew these requirements?

USA swimming registration must be renewed before the end of every year.  Your APT and BGC must both be current for you to remain "in good standing" and eligible to work on deck.  To check when you need to renew your APT and BGC requirements, log into your USA Swimming account and click My Member Cards.  You'll see the expiration date listed next to each requirement:
